Lamborghini is throwing its hat into the luxury SUV game as it has now given the green light to its Urus SUV. After observing the great success that Porsche has seen with the Cayenne, and later the Macan, Lamborghini is hoping to have the new SUV sell in high numbers, giving it the ability to invest more money into lower volume models (the real fun stuff.)
The Urus is slated to go into production in 2018. Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said, "This is a proud moment for everybody in Lamborghini. The introduction of a third model line endorses the stable and sustainable growth of the company and signifies for us the beginning of a new era. The new SUV will be made in Sant'Agata Bolognese, demonstrating our commitment to safeguarding the values of 'Made in Italy' worldwide."
So the Levante will have the Urus to look forward to as a competitor in the future. They will be at slightly different price points, but will be cross shopped nonetheless.
