Jalopnik reports that Maserati sadly isn't making much money. Marchionne says that the plan to reverse that trend rests on the Levante. Here's the main quote they cite:

Marchionne said the launch of the Levante SUV in the first half of 2016 will boost Maserati’s earnings. “We need to wait until then,” he told analysts Thursday on a conference call.

Apparently analysts are skeptical, but then again, it worked for Porsche so only time will tell.

The key insight in that article is the lower-priced Ghibli has dragged down margins. Is there any reliable speculation on where the Levante will be priced? Higher than Ghibli? I'm thinking the Levante will need to be priced above the Ghibli to raise profit margins. Perhaps this article is the first hint that the Levante will indeed be more expensive than the Ghibli...

Higher than the Ghibli indeed, I was actually thinking it would be within Porsche Macan or Cayenne pricing although I could be wrong about that.
