A few Maserati Levante mules were spied testing at the Nurburgring in Germany recently.
These mules still look like jacked up Ghiblis, so they don't really give us much new information at all about what the final Maserati Levante will end up looking like. The Levante will ride on the same platform as the Ghibli, but will have an increased ride height, wider body and a modified Q4 all-wheel drive system. Even on the inside of the vehicle we only see what is in a Ghibli. The worn leather seats do show that this test vehicle has seen quite a bit of action though.
The Levante should end up looking very close to the Kubang concept that was unveiled in 2011, and it will be unveiled in its production form at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January of 2016. It should go on sale shortly after that.
Though the market for crossovers that are smaller than the Levante is growing, FCA has decided that it will not make a Maserati in this segment as it would compete with other FCA products.
