New owner here - driver door unlock issue

Hi all

I’ve had my 2018 Levante for a couple of weeks now & love it. Only issue is that I am periodically getting an issue where I can’t open the drivers door with the handle. Seems to be the same whether in normal mode or passive entry. It looks like the car is unlocking with the key, but when you pull the handle it doesn’t open. Generally after a few goes or sometimes locking and unlocking it will open.
It might be when it is colder weather but doesn’t do it every time. Frustrating to say the least.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I have a 1 year warranty from HR Owen in London but I live near Leicester so can’t just pop it back easily to get fixed so wondered if anyone knew if it was a known issue?

Has the temperature been below zero? I picked mine up in Dec 22 and the dealer warned me to take care when opening in frosty conditions as the window drops a few millimeters before you can open it, and it can get stuck to the rubber seal.
If it's below zero I give it a quick squirt of deicer at the top before pulling the handle.
It hasn’t always been below zero but fairly cold. Ok that’s a thought, I’ll try that next time! Thanks

Hi, sorry for lengthy reply (oh and this is my first ever post as a new member!).

Yes, I've had a similar problem but only when its been raining heavily (!?).

I checked a useful on-line owners manual ( https://manualzz.com/doc/60198285/maserati-levante-2020-owner-manual ) and interestingly there is a 'caution note' to owners that this may happen (sorry can't recall the section) after washing the car due to water covering the 'hands-free' sensor on driver's door (I guess ice maybe a similar cause).

Now, on one occasion I took the time to try and understand what was preventing the door from opening.

Although I think this may not have caused the initial problem, I observed that my not being able to open the driver's door on the 2nd/3rd/4th etc attempts was linked to how the soft-close mechanism was working each time I tried to open the door. So after trying to open the door, and not succeeding, I HAD TO BE PATIENT and wait for the door's soft close feature to complete its closing cycle (even though it didn't open I still heard some electric motor whirring in the door followed by a click) only then could I open the door at the next attempt, because to me it appeared to have fully "reset".

(Previously I had been trying to open the door by pulling the handle ever harder multiple times and looking like a chimp ...due to my normal level of impatience!)

Today, I use a happy work-around, I now use the keyfob to unlock the car before I grab the drivers door handle to open the door.....and all has been good. As a final note to others that may read this at a later date, when I first had this problem all the passenger doors opened OK, it was just me the driver who was left in the rain....but I'm still a very happy Maserati owner!

I hope this helps.
