Here are the latest batch of Maserati Levante prototype spy shots. With production set to begin sometime in the next year we should see them in shops just in time for the 2016 model year.
Keep in mind these are exremely premature prototypes so apperance wise you will take little away, especially considering its wearing a Frankenstein Ghibli body.
Speaking of Ghibli the test mule pretty much confirms that the Levante will be using a derivative of the new Ghibli/QP platform and not ape the Grand Cherokee. Indications are wheelbase, coincidence the Levante wheelbase fits cleanly into a Ghibli's wheel arches? No. Also note the roof mouted weight to simulate a higher centre of gravity.
As for motivation nothing has changed, still expect the same turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 and 3.8-liter V-8 gasoline units found in the Ghibli and Quattroporte to migrate into the Levante.
