I originally posted this in Maserati Life but since I'm new here I can't include a link to it. You can find it with pictures if you look for: Stress crack - windshield on my new Levante

Took delivery in early November. Couple of weeks ago went to car in the morning to find cracked windshield. Maserati has approved it for warranty repair. It was clear there was no road debris damage. Should have new glass in next week. I'm hearing this is a known problem but not sure how extensive.

Please reply if you know anything about the issue, how widespread it is, or if you've had the same problem.

This didn't happen after going over any bumps or anything even? You just found it like this in the garage ?

Did you by any chance inspect around the entire area the windshield is mounted? Quite possible it wasn't mounted properly and just maybe before that other things were going on, like excessive wind noise, etc.

Hopefully this is just an isolated case and not wide spread.

I have the same problem. I had a stress crack on my windshield at the same place. I picked up my car on December 1st and on January 12th it appeared from nowhere.

I took possession of my car end of November. Saturday January 28th, I woke up to my windshield cracked in the same spot as everyone else. How is this happening? Spoke to dealer- J Starr Motors, they said to call them in the morning to get it handled. I hope this will be quickly resolved.

That's really messed up. Maybe the change in temp or something is causing it to stress crack ? Not enough room on either side of it to expand and contract?

It could be there are a run of trucks with improperly fitted windshields which would cause cracks like this to happen under certain conditions. My dealer hasn't seen any issues with this as of yet, but I'm curiously waiting to see if this is isolated to a few trucks, or if this becomes a bigger issue.

Odd.. probably aren't enough reports of it to justify them even listing a TSB or anything of the sort. Hopefully it isn't a common re-occurrence. Time will tell I guess.

Could even be that the body flexes too much causing this to happen and unfortunately with that sort of flex, stress on the windshield is a result of it. But that`s not to say that is whats happening here. Could be anything for all I know, but a possibility.

Hopefully we can get some answers soon enough.

Maybe we can see if it's a batch of a certain production numbers? Kind of like a batch of bad apples sort of thing which is very possible.

I was at Maserati Service in Long Island yesterday and noticed a few Levantes there. I asked the rep, and he said they were "mainly tires, and _windshield issues_." So this is clearly still a problem. BTW, there were like 15 or so Levantes on the dealer lot, and quite a few customers checking them out. Apparently the sales are starting to really tick...

I got my Lavente in December and love it. Yesterday noted a cracked windshield. I live in Minnesota. Took it to the dealer today and he said they had Masarati rep at the dealership last night and he said if the crack is happening around the area where the rear view mirror is mounted then it's a stress fracture and they have seen a few of those . They took pics and sent it to Masarati. Windshield has to be special ordered as dealers don't carry and could take 15/20 days to arrive .

I just had the same crack! And there are apparently no Levante windshields available to repair it! What dealerships have info about this? I am currently in Grand Rapids, MI and have been working with Zeigler Maserati.

I hope this isn't a bigger issue.

That's a huge pet peeve of mine. It just makes the overall vehicle look so... horrible. But having to deal with that for 15-20 days would be hectic. I can only imagine the backorder that's going to arrive.

Ok, so these stress cracks finally appeared for me. So far I have now experienced the dreaded mysto drive to neutral bug, the radio head reset, and now the windshield stress cracks. I won't post pictures since they are identical.
